Is there an ongoing issue with RealVNC with DietPi? I have been using it up until yesterday when I tried to reinstall DietPi.Įdit: Im using an RPI B+ using the latest DietPi Image. I gave up on it for reinstalling over and over again. Restarting the services will still end up it failing. Restarted the Pi, and still the icon for the real VNC beside the clock is not present and looking in the list of services showing that the VNC server has “failed”. Not knowing if its done or not because the terminal has already force exited without my intervention. This time when I install Real VNC, it will reach the final part when it tries to finish the install but crashes the terminal. It tries to install and its on the list of optimized softwares.Īs far as I can remember, when you install a service it will completely notify you if it’s has been installed successfully. The problem is I can no longer install Real VNC on this setup. I reformatted to start fresh, with all the needed services to start again. I tried to Press CTRL+D to resume but it never starts. If you neglect to kill your VNC server, it will continue to respond to login requests but will not have an associated desktop environment and thus become unusable. My DietPi setup finally got corrupted because of unsafe power outage. Next, log in using SSH and run vncserver-virtual -kill :desktop_number – in our example this would be: vncserver-virtual -kill :1. To end the persistent VNC session, first log out of your desktop environment as usual. Connect to desktop 1 instead of desktop 99 (in our example :1) using the RealVNC®Viewer. Please remember that these computers are shared resources. NOTE: The EECS IT Staff reserves the right to kill any sessions that are using an undue amount of system resources (CPU time, RAM, etc.) and make it impossible for other users to share the system. You can then later reconnect to the same session, finish your work, log out, and remove your session. It is, however, possible to create a persistent connection that will survive disconnecting. The access method described above makes it easy to connect to a VNC system, do your work, and then disconnect without leaving a lot of processes running.
